BONANZA - PRENZLAUER BERG

BONANZA COFFEE HEROES

THE FIRST TIME IN THE

WORLD SOMEONE

STENCILLED ON COFFEE.

NOW IT'S HARD TO FIND A

COFFEE WITHOUT IT.

I collaborated with my dear friend Emiliano Trierveiler on a unique project that was part advertising, part art installation.

Our target audience for Bonanza Coffee Heroes were trendy individuals who were skeptical of anything that resembled mass media. To engage this crowd, we drew inspiration from Berlin's street art scene and created custom-made stencils that imprinted the faces of alternative heroes, such as Marlon Brando and Che Guevara, onto the foam of the coffee.

We launched this initiative just three days before the American elections, and included Barack Obama's face on hundreds of cups of coffee. The image quickly traveled around the world and even became part of the Obama Art official book series. This was the first time that stenciling had been used in coffee art, and it has since become a popular trend worldwide.

This project is particularly close to my heart, as it earned several prestigious awards. It won a bronze in the Clio Awards, was a two-time shortlist in the Design category at Cannes, and was awarded a D&AD pencil.

TIME TO CELEBRATE OBAMA'S VICTORY. WHY DON'T YOU DRINK YOUR HERO IN THIS INTERESTING ACTIVATION?

HUNGRY BERLIN
