SCENARIO
The gaming industry is bigger than ever: twice the size of Hollywood. There are 1.6 billion players online everyday. Almost half of them are girls.
PROBLEM
A study showed that 94% of girls who play online have already suffered some form of harassment. That’s why many of them choose to hide their identities and play under male nicknames.
SOLUTION
Vivo, Brazil’s biggest internet provider, believes that the internet is for everyone to use freely, without being afraid to be who they are. So we couldn’t sit still.
With that in mind, we invited the biggest male YouTubers of the gaming world to experience what girls go through every day.
They were asked to change their usual nicknames to girl names, play online, share their thoughts about it and invite their fans to do the same.
And so they did. The movement spread like wildfire, garnering over 40 hours of organic content from all around the globe.
And now the gaming world is talking about a problem few people were even aware of.
